ABSTRACT We couple star cluster formation and feedback simulations of a Carina-like star-forming region with 1D disc evolutionary models to study the impact external photoevaporation on populations in massive regions. To investigate effect shielding young stellar objects by material, we track far-ultraviolet (FUV) field history at each two methods: (i) Monte Carlo radiative transfer accounting for stars from FUV cloud (ii) geometric dilution radiation other stars, which ignores effects. found that significant only occurs small fraction discs offers protection <0.5 Myr. However, this initial can prevent early gas/dust mass-loss radius reduction due photoevaporation. Particularly, 0.5 Myr is sufficient much solid reservoir evolve larger sizes where it will not be entrained an wind. Shielding therefore potentially terrestrial planet retaining mass budget, but continued stripping gas when ends could still migration giant atmospheres.
